INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Technology and Knowledge Transfer Centre (TKTC) is responsible for the intellectual property protection and aims to contribute to enhancing of enabling an environment for innovation in RTU.

The TKTC provides advice and methodical assistance to RTU researchers, teaching staff and students in processing applications for legal protection of inventions and in obtaining and maintaining patents as well as in commercialization of the research results.

The Science Development Fund under supervision of Vice-Rector for Research has been set up in order to cover the expenses for processing patents and for protecting intellectual property of RTU research.

The procedure of granting patents in Latvia is regulated by The Patent Law and is implemented by the Patent Office of the Republic of Latvia. Full text of the Patent Law and detailed information about the procedure can be found on www.lrpv.gov.lv/en.
